The hardware is impressive, yet the note-taking and web browsing capabilities are severely lacking. As it stands, the Scribe is not practical for serious note-taking despite having an excellent pen and screen. If the following enhancements are implemented, the Scribe could transform into a robust note-taking device.
1. The flyout menu should be movable, allowing it to float freely anywhere on the screen or at least move vertically along the page margins.
2. The flyout menu ought to include an ‘intelligent avoidance’ feature that automatically moves the menu out of the way when you write near it, such as moving down the page as you fill up lines on lined paper.
3. An auto-close option for the flyout menu should be added, so it closes immediately after making a selection if activated.
4. Introduce a ‘scratch to delete’ function, allowing users to erase by simply scratching over text, mimicking traditional pen and paper.
5. Implement a touch gesture where using two fingers on the page turns the pen tip into an eraser.
6. A double-tap with two fingers on the page should act as an undo function, with repeated taps continuing to undo actions.
7. Expand the flyout menu to include different selection tools: oval, rectangle, and magic wand for varied content selection on the page.
a. Upon making a selection, a secondary menu should appear offering options like add to selection, delete, copy, move, scale, stretch, flip vertically or horizontally, rotate, and send.
b. In selection mode, tapping the page with two fingers should add to the current selection rather than replacing it.
