The policy revision comes in response to advice from Meta’s Oversight Board. It’s part of an effort to update the manipulated media policy established in 2020. The previous policy was more focused on videos made with AI that misrepresented spoken words.

Starting in July, Meta will change how it handles AI-generated content. Instead of removing material that doesn’t violate community guidelines, it will remain accessible. This adjustment follows recommendations for adding context rather than imposing restrictions.
