They’ve been with me on awkward first dates, where the silence was only broken by the squeaking of my shoes, which somehow always had more to say than I did. They’ve sprinted for buses I had no chance of catching, only to saunter back in a dignified retreat, pretending it was my plan all along to enjoy a brisk morning jog in business attire.

But here’s the kicker, the punchline to end all punchlines: after all these adventures, all these escapades across the globe, my absolute favorite pair of shoes, the ones that have truly taken me everywhere, are the ones God gave me – my own two feet. Yes, the good old “heel-toe express.” No matter where I roam, these biological wonders have carried me through life’s most challenging terrains, including the daunting journey from the couch to the fridge and back. And you know what? They never go out of style.
