January 2024 Windows 11 KB5034204 Update: Major Fixes for Bluetooth Audio and 24 Other Issues. The January 2024 preview update for Windows 11, versions 22H2 and 23H2, has been released by Microsoft under the designation KB5034204. This update notably rectifies Bluetooth audio issues and addresses 24 other known problems. As a non-security, optional cumulative update, it offers a preview of improvements and fixes ahead of the February 2024 Patch Tuesday release.
Key fixes in this update include resolving a problem with Bluetooth Low Energy (LE) Audio earbuds losing sound during music streaming, and an issue where audio from Bluetooth phone calls does not route through the PC when calls are answered on the PC.
The update also tackles a deadlock issue that hinders the search functionality in the Start menu for some users, as well as a bug in the OpenType font driver that affects text rendering in third-party applications on certain hardware configurations.
To install this optional “C” update, users must select ‘Download and install’ after checking for updates in Settings > Windows Update. Alternatively, the KB5034204 update can be downloaded directly from the Microsoft Update Catalog for manual installation. More details on installing this update at home are available in a support document.
