Tesla Revives Coveted FSD Transfer Offer with New Terms: A Surprise Update. Tesla has brought back its Full Self-Driving (FSD) transfer offer unexpectedly, alongside reinstating the unlimited free Supercharging transfer deal. This time, the FSD transfer is reportedly only accessible in the US.
As of 3:11pm PT, there’s been conflicting information regarding the authenticity of the FSD (full self drive) transfer offer. The trade-in page initially mentioning the offer has since been edited to omit such details, though sales representatives are advising customers that the transfer of FSD is still possible.
By 6:33pm PT, confirmation was received that the offer has indeed been reinstated, but it’s restricted to purchases of Model S/X/Y vehicles and is only available in the US, excluding Canada for now. Despite previous statements indicating the offer was a one-time event during a Q3 earnings call by CEO Elon Musk, the offer has made a return. Musk had described it as a “one-time amnesty,” urging owners to seize the opportunity before September’s end to qualify for the transfer.
This revival was spotlighted by a user @Lipsytee through a screenshot showing a trade-in estimate that includes a no-cost transfer of FSD from a current vehicle to a new Tesla, provided the new vehicle is received by March 31, 2024. This offer, however, seems to be known only in the US at this moment. Inquiries by Drive Tesla and its readers to various service centers and advisors, including one in Edmonton, found no awareness or validity of the offer in Canada. A trade-in request for a FSD-equipped Model 3 was made to further investigate but awaits a response.
Tesla has not created a support page for the FSD transfer as it did previously, leaving the specific eligibility criteria unclear. However, there are notable differences from last year’s offer. One significant change is the requirement of a trade-in, as opposed to the previous option where Tesla allowed the removal of FSD from an existing vehicle for transfer without necessitating its sale. Another distinction is the deadline of March 31, 2024, for taking delivery, although similar to last year, Tesla may accommodate transfers post-deadline due to uncontrollable delivery schedules, provided certain conditions are met beforehand.

Despite these updates, Tesla might still adhere to the lenient approach of the previous year regarding delivery deadlines. The cost of FSD Capability currently stands at $12,000 in the US and $16,500 in Canada.
